What is Dual-Diagnosis?
Dual Diagnosis is a treatment practice that cares for people who suffer from both addiction and a psychiatric condition. For example, you may be addicted to any mood or mind altering substance, sex, and gambling. You may also have a psychiatric disorders that include bi-polar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia. A large majority of addicts have a underlining issues for dual diagnosis and have been untreated for years. This alone plays an overwhelming role in the sky-high incidence of relapse. This treatment was introduced over 20 years ago. However, the severity is not understood by a large amount of people.
